The re-accreditation of the Graduate Program in Disaster Science, Universitas Syiah Kuala, has been initiated since early 2021. The Rector of Universitas Syiah Kuala has selected a committee for the preparation of the re-accreditation report. The committee was tasked with compiling a Study Program Performance Report and a Self-Evaluation Report. The contents presented in the reaccreditation report consist of 9 criteria, including vision, mission, goals and objectives; governance, management, and cooperation; student; Human Resources; finance, facilities, and infrastructure; education; research; community service; outcomes and achievements.
As part of the educational criteria, the curriculum is an important aspect that is assessed in the re-accreditation process. Therefore, the Graduate Program in Disaster Science, Universitas Syiah Kuala, was greatly assisted by the review and updating of the curriculum, which was carried out in collaboration with the University Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (UN4DRR) in Indian Ocean Rim, which was funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union, Project Number 609592-EPP- 1-2019-1-BE-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP.
The Graduate Program in Disaster Science, Universitas Syiah Kuala, submitted a reaccreditation report on March 31, 2021. After an assessment process by assessors from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education, the report was deemed eligible for reaccreditation. The field assessment process was carried out on 3-4 May 2021 by Prof. Indri Safitri Mukono from Airlangga University and Prof. IGN Loyola Setyawan Purnama from Gadjah Mada University as representative of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education. On May 25, 2021, the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education accredited the Graduate Program in Disaster Science, Universitas Syiah Kuala, with an “Excellent” accreditation. This predicate increased from the previous accreditation rating of “Good” (B). The latest reaccreditation is valid from 2021 to 2026.
